The police released 17 women who were sexually exploited in a Durazno whiskeywhose owner He was arrested and charged with human traffickingreported the General Directorate for the Fight Against Organized Crime of Interpol Uruguay in a statement.

Within the framework of the investigation “Turquoise IV”the Department of Investigation of Special Crimes raided this Thursday a nightclub in the town of Centenario, Durazno, where 17 women of legal age were sexually exploited while they lived on the premises.

Twelve of the victims are Uruguayan, two Venezuelan, two Dominican and one Cuban, detailed from Interpol.

After the raid on the whiskey, the police also raided the home of its owner, 44 years oldwho was arrested and later charged by the prosecutor for Sexual Offenses Alicia Ghione as “alleged perpetrator of repeated crimes of human trafficking in the form of sexual exploitation” along with “a crime of arms and ammunition trafficking”with 120 days of pretrial detention.

In his house the authorities found US$ 210,882.96, a 9-millimeter pistol, three pistol chargers and ammunition, six cell phonesamong other elements, they listed in the statement.

The organization highlighted the “Turquoise” operation, a joint international work of several countries that in 2021 it achieved “the arrest of 216 people and the identification of more than 10,000 irregular migrants from 61 different countries”highlighted the Interpol headquarters in another statement.
