The morning of Wednesday, July 23, the release of former Finance Minister Rodrigo Cabezas and two other economists who were detained for a month and a half was known.

Rodrigo Cabezas was arrested arbitrarily on June 12 when he was at the headquarters of Corpoelec Maracaibo, Zulia State, by Sebin officials. He was transferred to Caracas and held in the helicoid. His relatives say he was never presenting in court.
The Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, told the university professor to be a “contact” and supposed part of the network of the opposition leader María Corina Machado to commit alleged conspiracy acts from that entity.

The releases occur within the framework of a negotiation between the United States and Nicolás Maduro, who made an exchange of American prisoners and 80 Venezuelan political prisoners for the 252 migrants arrested in a prison of maximum security in El Salvador and allegedly belonged to the Aragua train.
Since Friday, according to various human rights defenders, at least 59 people have been released, including nine Americans detained for political reasons in the country. The majority are men who were detained in the Tocorón prison (Aragua State) for the post -electoral protests of 2024.
