Santo Domingo.- The spokesperson for the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), in the Chamber of Deputies, Fiordaliza Peguero, rejected this Thursday the Executive’s willingness to grant loans for two billion pesos to clinics at preferential rates.
The congresswoman said that this is not the role of the Development and Export Bank BANDEX and that said provision is for the benefit of health entrepreneurs.
He criticized the government for focusing on the private health sector when there are so many weaknesses in the public sector.
“What a pity that we are going to strengthen a private sector so that our people have to spend their food money on health,” said Peguero.

It is recalled that the President of the Republic Luis Abinader defended the measure of granting loans for 2 billion pesos to clinics at preferential rates, since this will contribute to improving the structure of private medical centers.

On a day like today in which World Health Day is celebrated, social organizations together with the Alliance for the Right to Health, expressed their indignation at the announcement made by the Government of having two billion pesos available to improve services in private clinics.
Alba Reyes, general coordinator of ADESAstated that it is ironic that they are given the benefit of expanding their portfolio of services while the country’s public hospitals are in precarious conditions.
“It seems ironic, while the country’s public network is in emergency conditions, is in clear deterioration, the President of the Republic is concerned that the private sector improve its services,” he said.
Government provides two billion in financing for expansion of private health infrastructure
It is recalled that yesterday President Luis Abinader announced the Advance Health Fund, which has two billion pesos for special financing facilities through the Development and Exports Bank (BANDEX) for the construction, expansion and technological modernization of clinics and centers private health.
In a ceremony held at the National Palace, together with Vice President Raquel Peña, and Juan Mustafá, general manager of the BANDEXthe president reported that the financing conditions for the health sector include interest rates from 6.5% in pesos and from 5.5% in dollars, terms of up to 20 years and special grace periods.
President Abinader explained that the fund will allow the construction, expansion and remodeling of clinical centers throughout the country, the purchase of cutting-edge medical machinery and equipment, as well as automate services and implement new technologies.
