The Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Ministry of Popular Power for Communes and Social Movementsheld a meeting to reinvigorate the Special Jurisdiction of the Communal Justice of the Peace.
This was reported by the magistrate of the Constitutional Chamber of the TSJ, Tania D’Amelio Cardietby announcing on his social media account, @taniadamelio, the working session with the Vice Minister for Community and Social Organization and Participation of the Ministry, Cesar Carrero Aristizabal.
The Organic Law of the Special Jurisdiction of the Communal Justice of the Peacewas published in Official Gazette number 39,913 of May 2, 2012, which establishes the rules of organization and operation of the same as an area of People’s Power and a member of the justice system, for the achievement and preservation of harmony in family relationships, in neighborhood and community coexistence.
Similarly, the law allows to resolve issues arising from the exercise of the right to citizen participation, related to the actions of the instances and organizations of People’s Power.
An important element in the law is the figure of the Communal Justice of the Peace, who is elected through the direct participation of the members of the Commune or the population in the territory.
These judges have the power, within the special jurisdiction of the communal justice of the peace, to make decisions, through alternative means for the resolution of conflicts or controversies, in the territorial scope of their action, which includes the power to know , investigate, decide on matters subject to its competence and the power to endorse agreements based on conciliation, dialogue, mediation, understanding and repair of damage, in order to restore harmony, peace, good living and community life.
