The Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Environment, Sergio Federovskyarrived this Tuesday in the province of Land of Firewhere, together with the governor Gustavo Melellacontinue with the operation to combat the active fire in the town of Tolhuin, which has more than 85 brigade members, five air resources, combat equipment and logistical support provided by the national government, since last December 4.
The aerial means contributed by the Ministry of Environment, which conducts Juan Cabandieconsist of two helicopters with a helibalde and a fire-hydrant plane belonging to the National Fire Management Service (SNMF) and 85 combatants and technical and logistical support personnel involved in firefighting belonging to the South National Brigade, the National Parks Administration (APN), the Central National Brigade and the province of Córdoba.
Likewise, technical support is provided with weather forecast for planning. For its part, the province of Tierra del Fuego provides two other aircraft, reported a statement from the environmental ministry.
Regarding the possibility of having air resources provided by the Government of Chile, it was explained that this country does not have large planes and the resources they have are destined to fight the forest fires that its territory is currently suffering.
In this sense, Vice Minister Federovisky explained that, on the part of the Government of Chile, “there was no specific offer” regarding air resources and stated that “the possibility of sending brigade members was discussed, although it began to lose potential because Chile also It is going through a complex situation regarding fires.”
