Specialists from the Ministry of Culture recovered twelve (12) goods of pre -Hispanic origin in the archaeological site Pampa de Ánimas – La Wasa, located in the district of Santa María, in the province of Huaura, Lima Region.
It’s about pitchers, pots, a ceramic dish and two fragments of metal sheetscorresponding to local pre -Hispanic styles, temporarily belonging to the average horizon periods (600 AD – 1000 AD) and Late Intermediate (1000 AD. C. – 1476 AD).
The finding is the result of an inspection day in the aforementioned real estate, In response to a complaint made by a citizen through the virtual platform of the Ministry of Culture, regarding the occurrence of excavations in place, with the purpose of illicitly extracting furniture cultural goods, an action that is commonly known as huaqueo.
The initial evaluation of the goods found whatAnd some are in good condition, others look deteriorated and in some cases fragmented, due to their exposure to adverse environmental conditions or their violent manipulation.
The pieces were transferred to the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, in order to carry out the corresponding protection actions: evaluation, declaration and registration.
The inspection was carried out by specialists from the Directorate of Recovery (DRE)-unity of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage Defense.
