Similarly, early warnings are maintained in the parishes of Montalbán and Jají, which are the most affected by heavy rainfall.

Collection centers for those affected in Las Tejerías

Regarding the Las Tejerías tragedy, Dugarte said that two collection centers were set up in Ejido to help those affected. “The collection centers will be located in the Mayor’s Office of Ejido at the level of Centenario Avenue, and the other La Hacienda El Pinar.”

He pointed out that citizens can provide drinking water, non-perishable food, clothing and footwear in good condition, diapers, pet food, mats and blankets.

Dugarte reiterated that there are still 22 tropical waves to pass through the country, so we must remain alert, follow the recommendations to stay away from hydrographic basins to avoid human loss, in addition to notifying the prevention bodies of any incident due to climate change.

Maintenance work on the Mocotíes River

Since last Thursday, September 6, the channeling work on the Mocotíes River began again, a task carried out by the Mayor’s Office of the Tovar Municipality together with the Government of Mérida and the state company Aguas de Mérida.

The machine and workers destined for such work, began from the Tacarica sector. Dredging is essential to prevent the river from leaving its flow and generating damage, reported the mayor of the Tovar municipality, Yvan Puliti.

He noted that they are constantly monitoring both the river and various streams, so far the flood has not caused damage, however, the rains have affected the intake dykes, among which he pointed out the Rincón de La Laguna, El Carrizal, and Cucuchica.

“Work crews have made it possible in the shortest time to clean the intakes and restore some pipes, returning to the conduction of the vital liquid to provide the service to the population,” he said.

As for heavy machinery, Puliti indicated that it has been operational to serve some of the Trunk 007, with the removal of debris due to landslides, support has also been provided to several rural communities. “There is no complete blockage of either pathway,” she emphasized.
