Under the command of Major PNP Gilmer Torres Díaz, head of the High Mountain Rescue Unit – Ancash, several agents entered the snowy Huaytapallana to recover the bodies of the two mountaineers, Pablo Cueva Carhuarupay (54) and Samael Salazar Bautrat (3. 4).
Both lost their lives when they climbed the highest mountain in the snowy and fell to a depth of 40 meters.

The rescue team arrived aboard a police unit and then walked for more than 4 hours to the Lasuntay lagoon, where they proceeded to carry out recovery work that lasted several hours.

Once the bodies were found on the shores of the lagoon, the pertinent procedures were carried out by the staff of Oficri, Seincri and the head of the Huancayo Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, Luis Álvaro Cárdenas.
