During yesterday’s day, Carabineros in the company of municipal workers carried out an inspection in the city of Temuco, La Araucanía region, against the vendors who occupy the public spaces of the city. At the moment of confronting the police officers, the street vendors threw merquén into their eyes to block their proceeding.
From the municipality of Temuco they indicated that the control responded to the prevention of installation and use of sidewalks for street vendors who are not authorized.
Through an Instagram post, the municipality expressed its repudiation of what happened, although it did not rule out continuing to carry out this action. “We emphatically reject this expression of violence, however, despite this and other multiple attacks and threats suffered, the municipality will continue to take care of its neighbors from the serious effects that street trade brings with it.”
“Because we all want to live in a cleaner, commercially fair and safe center,” they closed.
