The pediatric director of the Pereira Rossell Hospital, Álvaro Galiana, recommended that people who had the flu get the influenza vaccine after they are cured of their condition because he estimated that in a few months there will be a new peak.
“We are promoting them to get vaccinated. We are seeing an increase in people to get vaccinated against influenza. It is good that they do it because the flu peaks also occur at the beginning of winter, but they also occur again in the spring,” he declared. in an interview with Telemundo (Channel 12).
The doctor urged those people who have had viral symptoms in recent weeks to get vaccinated if they have not done so until now. And he asked them to do it “when they’re good.”
“You have to remember that you get vaccinated for three types of virus: two for influenza A and one for influenza B. And sometimes that changes over the course of the year,” he declared.
Flu Dosage and Immunity
Breastfed babies older than six months who are given it for the first time should be given two doses. After the first, they must be given a second after 30 days. Immunity is achieved 10 days after that second dose.
Those children older than 36 months who have already received a vaccine at some point should only be given it once.
