After four days of intense search, an inmate who had escaped last Wednesday, February 18, when he was being transferred from the courts to the guarantee room of the Portuguesa Police, in Guanare, was recaptured.
The subject was located this Sunday, February 22, in a nighttime police operation that took place in the San Genaro de Boconoíto municipality, specifically in the El Canal sector, belonging to the Embalse Boconó-Tucupido commune.
The General Command of the Portuguesa Police is the place of confinement of the citizen, identified as Edmundo José García La Cruz (34) and prosecuted for the crimes of sexual violence, femicide aggravated by frustration and illicit possession of firearms, according to case № CM1-V-2025-1038, from the year 2025.
