He Superior Court of Bogotá confirmed the seven-year sanction in a specialized care center for the minor responsible for the firearm attack against the former senator and former candidate for Mayor of Bogotá, Miguel Uribe Turbay. Miguel Uribe Turbay died on August 11, a month after the attack for which the minor and four other people were prosecuted, including Elder Arteaga, known by the alias ‘el Costeño’; Katerine Martínez, alias Gabriela; Carlos Eduardo Mora, alias El Veneco; and William Fernando González, alias ‘El Hermano’.
The ratification of the sentence indicates that the 15-year-old adolescent acted with full awareness of his action, which is why the maximum penalty provided for by law for adolescents was imposed. The measure seeks to guarantee both the protection of society and the resocialization of young people.
