The cells of the head of the narco gang “Los Monos” and of at least four other prisoners in the federal prisons of Marcos Paz, Ezeiza and Rawson, were raided this Friday in the framework of three cases in which shootings, drug trafficking and even a homicide that could have been organized by the detainees from the prison units.

Judicial sources assured Télam that one of the raids was carried out this Friday at noon by Federal Police personnel in the cell he occupies. Ariel Maximo “Guille” Canteroleader of the Rosario narco gang “Los Monos”, in Pavilion 7 of Residential Unit 2 of the Federal Penitentiary Complex 2 of Marcos Paz, where investigators They were looking for cell phones and all kinds of technological devices and even the list of communications that he made in recent months.

The search in Cantero’s cell was requested in the framework of three different criminal cases, one from the Federal Justice of Rosario, another from the Federal Justice of Morón and the rest from the ordinary Justice of Rosario, all of them in collaboration with the Prosecutor Diego Iglesias, of the Narcocrime Prosecutor’s Office (Procunar).

The date on which the procedures were carried out, according to judicial sources, is not related to the shooting that the supermarket that belongs to Lionel Messi’s father-in-law suffered this Thursdaybut they were scheduled since last week.

The suspicion of the investigators is that the shootings, the drug dealing mainly in conflictive neighborhoods of Rosario and at least one homicide that occurred last February in that city of Santa Fe, were organized from prison by these prisoners..

In one of the opinions signed by the federal prosecutor 2 of Rosario, Paula Moretti, and by prosecutor Iglesias, to which Télam had access, it was requested that the “records of subscriber numbers with which the inmate Cantero communicated from the telephone line located in Pavilion 7 and the holders of said subscribers, at least from March 2022 to date”.

The investigations point to two investigative lines: the first linked to the possible commission of “Guille” Cantero of behaviors related to the trafficking of narcotic substances and other organized crimes from his place of accommodation; and the second, referring to the possible structural complicity of the authorities of the Federal Penitentiary Service that allowed Cantero to have expressly prohibited devices.

In addition, a series of measures were requested with “Guille” Cantero, including that he be located in another sector of the Marcos Paz prison where he does not have contact with other detainees linked to drug trafficking, that strict control of his communications be established and that he submit to searches every 15 days of the cell where he is staying.

In addition, in another case led by federal prosecutor 1 of Morón, Mariela Labozzeta, together with prosecutor Iglesias, the search of the same cell of “Guille” Cantero was ordered for a shooting against the front of the Marcos Paz Penitentiary Complex in November 2022.

Other investigated

In this case, the raids of the prison cells were also requested. Leandro Vinardi, aka “Chicken”, in the Residential Unit VI of the Federal Penitentiary Complex I of Ezeiza; that of Damián Escobar, alias “Toro” or “Guampa”, in the same Residential Unit; that of Rodolfo Ezequiel Masini, aka “Eri”, in Pavilion 5 of the Rawson Federal Penitentiary Unit; that of Pablo Nicholas Camino, of the same pavilion; and of Leandro Vilchesalso in Rawson.

In all cases, investigators are looking for cell phones and technological devices through which the prisoners are suspected of continuing to organize acts of violence and manage their respective criminal gangs from prison..

In one of the cells of the Rawson prison, the police found a hole through which the prisoners managed to pass their cell phones in order to avoid being discovered during the searches, the judicial sources consulted told Télam.

Another of the causes that these prisoners are accused of is related to the crime of Lorenzo Altamirano, 28, who was assassinated on February 2 at 2800 Intendente Morcillo Avenue, in the city of Rosario, in what is presumed she was an intern at Newell’s barra brava.

This case is being carried out by prosecutors Luis Schiappa Pietra and Matias Edery, from the Organized Crime and Complex Crimes Agency of the Second Circumscription Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The raids are carried out hours after the front of a supermarket in the city of Rosario, owned by the father of Antonela Roccuzzo, wife of soccer star Lionel Messi, suffered a shooting by two criminals who fired 14 shots during the night and left a threatening note against the captain of the Argentine soccer team that won the World Cup in Qatar.
