The images and testimonies of Venezuelans abound crossing mountains, rivers and jungles in their desperate search for a better future away from their homeland. However, little about the hundreds of compatriots who risk their lives throwing the sea, facing all kinds of dangers to try to reach the coasts of the Dutch Caribbean.

They are the stories of the Venezuelan “racks” with the risks they face in their clandestine trips to the islands of Aruba and Curacao, tourist paradises that have become – according to the United Nations – in the countries that host the greatest number of refugees in the world in relation to their national population.
Reporters of Venezuela, Curacao and Aruba, with the support of Free Press Unlimited, added efforts to gather experiences on both sides of the border. The stories expose the drama of the disappeared and the families who continue to fight to find their loved ones; The challenges of integration and the challenges faced by the Venezuelan that emigrate and those that remain in the country, trying to cover the absences in their homes.
The investigation made possible the elaboration of an open database, which provides details about missing persons, sapos and the status of cases denounced before the competent agencies. A job that tries to contribute to relatives who demand justice and persevere so that the memory of their relatives is not lost at the bottom of the sea.
