The former controller of the General Administration of Ports during the administration of Mauricio Macri, Gonzalo Mórtola, was prosecuted by federal judge Marcelo Martínez de Giorgi for “violation of the duties of an official” for having hired a consultant directly for almost one million Dollars.
The file began in 2018, through a complaint of Juan Carlos Lanatawhich warned about the direct contracting of the firm “Indra” for the preparation of the specifications and financial planning when it had no history of work in the area.
Martínez de Georgi pointed out in the resolution that Mórtola, as comptroller of the General Administration of Ports, could not be unaware that direct contracting is not allowed by the State Purchasing and Contracting Regulations.
“Everything indicates that (Mórtola) simulated circumstances that gave apparent legality to his actions, that if it had not been for the complaint made, he probably would not have been questioned”mentioned the federal judge in his resolution.
Together with the prosecution without preventive detention for “violation of the duties of an official”, which could be extended according to judicial sources to “fraud against the public administration”, the judge ordered an embargo on Mórtola’s assets for 400 thousand pesos.
The magistrate also considered that the Port Administration had suitable personnel, well paid and trained for the tasks for which it hired the consultant, with an expense of 940 thousand dollars for the public treasury.
