They prosecute a man who would have kept a squirrel monkey in captivity

The Special Group for the Fight against Animal Abuse prosecuted three people who would be involved in illegal activities with wildlife in Nariño and Cundinamarca.

Ervinc Edison Ruales Ramírez was charged with the crimes of illegal use of natural resources and animal abuse. The authorities indicate that the man would be responsible for keeping a squirrel monkey in captivity in a house in Pasto, Nariño.

On the other hand, a prosecutor from the Special Group for the Fight against Animal Abuse charged Martha Helena Acosta and Tania Toro Jiménez with the crime of illegal use of natural resources.

The two women were captured by the National Police on February 28 at the Bogotá transport terminal. The authorities found more than 5 kilograms of hicotea turtle meat and eggs, an endangered species, in several Styrofoam boxes that they intended to transport on a public service bus.
