They propose to sanction a law for the use of the map of Venezuela

The deputy Hermann Escarrá considered this Monday viable the approval of a law for the use of the map of Venezuela, which establishes the incorporation of the Essequibo.

He expressed this in an interview with VTV, in which he indicated that an agreement was presented in the National Assembly that is actually an exhortation, which was approved unanimously, but that did not have a great effect, and that is why he considers that must enact a law.

“We have to go to sanction, just as a Law was made for the use of the Image of Father Liberator Simón Bolívar, we must make a Law in relation to the Essequibo, but with coercion,” said Escarrá, president of the Special Commission for Defense of the Territory of Guayana Esequiba and the Territorial Sovereignty of the AN.

Geneva Agreement

He indicated that the National Government maintains its proposal for a direct dialogue within the principles of international law to resolve the controversy over the Essequibo in the face of the Government of Guyana’s claims to appropriate this territory.

He explained that the defense of the Essequibo territory in Venezuela seeks direct dialogue, as established by the Geneva Agreement, but – he said – “Guyana has done the opposite,” said deputy Escarrá.

For the parliamentarian, the Venezuelan response must be based on the position of the country in cultural and economic matters.

“We can give the legal debate, but the first thing is the positioning of Venezuela in the educational, cultural order, investments, identification, surveys and in addition to the evaluation of resources and the relationship with companies that do not like the legal insecurity,” he stressed.

Escarrá stated that the issue of the Essequibo territory is the most important issue in Venezuela in terms of foreign policy.

“There is no other issue of greater importance, since the fate of the country is at stake in some way,” he stressed.

In this sense, he explained that there are more than 160 thousand square kilometers, where Venezuelan oil, gold, gas, coltan and minerals come from, and Guyana is giving concessions, contrary to what is established in the Geneva Agreement.
