They propose to increase the percentage of biodiesel to solve the lack of diesel

The Regulatory Framework for Biofuels, established last August and in force until 2030, established new parameters for mandatory cuts in gasoline and diesel

The First Association of Automotive Freight Transport Entrepreneurs (Paetac) proposed, in a letter sent to the Secretary of Energy, Darío Martínez, an increase in the percentage of the mandatory minimum cut of biodiesel for the production of diesel with the aim of resolving the fuel supply .

In the text, Paetac requested an increase in the percentage of biodiesel use in the production of diesel oil from the current 5% to 10%, either “temporarily or for an indefinite period of time”, considering that this measure would be “a viable and feasible solution” to the actual situation.

In addition, he stressed that it has “multiple positive implications” and especially pointed out as a “key factor” the economic one.

In arguing your request, The business entity referred to the “serious consequences” generated by the lack of diesel, among which it mentioned “extra costs, low productivity, affected or paralyzed operating processes and greater uncertainty.”

Meanwhile, when emphasizing the positive impact that the increase in the percentage of the mandatory minimum cut of biodiesel would have, the businessmen of the automotive cargo transport indicated that, “technically, its use in trucks and buses with higher cuts is proven. at 10%”.

At this point, they cited the case of Brazil, whose diesel “contains 14% biodiesel.”

Similarly, in the letter they sent to Darío Martínez, The entity pointed out that an increase in the mandatory cut would reduce the “Environmental Impact” by generating “less polluting emissions in relation to pure diesel.”

In addition, he highlighted that Argentina currently has “an idle installed capacity” to generate biodiesel that would allow the diesel oil cut to be raised to 15%“covering to a large extent the current shortage”, while promoting the “development of the local productive matrix and import substitution” together with the “creation of jobs and the development of regional economies” by creating “other by-products with the capacity to be exported”.

The letter bears the signatures of Martín Borbea Antelo and Luciano Milito, president and secretary, respectively, of Paetac.

Similarly, last week, the Argentine Agroindustrial Council (CAA) had expressed itself in favor of promoting the use of biofuels, whether biodiesel or bioethanol, and, along the same lines, recalled that the country has “ plants with high idle capacity that could go out to supply at market prices” and “replace the import of more than one million tons of diesel”.

The Regulatory Framework for Biofuels, established last August and in force until 2030, established new parameters for mandatory cuts in gasoline and diesel, and between them it established a minimum cut of biodiesel and bioethanol of 5% for diesel (instead of the previous 10%), with an eventual reduction to 3%.
