The mayoress of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, proposed this Wednesday to the Municipal Council of Libertador to decree April 19 as the Day of the Caracas Revolution, which allows celebrating the heroism of the patriots of 1810.
“It is a very special, historic day of rebellion. It is a day of the people and I want to launch a proposal in this solemn session, that through the Municipal Council call April 19 as the Day of the Caracas Revolution, to forever celebrate the heroism of the patriots of 1810.”, said the municipal representative.
He also requested the revision and updating of the Ordinance on the Order of the Key of the Ark Decoration that protects the book of the Act of Independence that was signed on July 5, 1811.
“We must review this ordinance, update it, we have new symbols in Caracas, so that on this special day we honor the people who have made history in our lives, our city, being a commitment to the just causes of our independence,” accurate.
Finally, he commented that “we should be proud to live these bicentennial moments of the great battles that gave the independence of our homeland, this time of renewal.”
