The national government enacted Law 27,668 that authorizes the Executive Power to sign the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), for the refinancing of the debt contracted in 2018 by the Macrista government, which was approved this Thursday by the Senate with the vote positive from most of the ruling party and the opposition bloc.
This was established in Decree 130/2022 published this Friday in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Alberto Fernández, the Chief of Staff Juan Manzur and the Minister of Economy Martín Guzmán.
“In use of the powers conferred by article 78 of the National Constitution, Law No. 27,668 sanctioned by the Honorable Congress of the Nation in its session on March 17, 2022 is enacted,” says the rule.
After almost ten hours of session, the Upper House endorsed the understanding with the IMF for the refinancing of the debt of more than 44 billion dollars, by 56 votes against 13 and three abstentions.
In most of the 40 speeches heard during the special session, from the two main political spaces, the Front of All (FdT) and Together for Change (JxC) they agreed on the need to prioritize the fact that Argentina signs the agreement with the IMF to avoid falling into default.
Among the positive votes, 20 were from the ruling party and 36 from the opposition, while of the 13 negatives, all were from the FdT.
