They promote “destination Cuba” in Uruguay

MADRID, Spain.- Authorities from the tourism sector in Cuba participated this Friday in the 67th Meeting of the Regional Commission of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) that took place in Punta del Este, Uruguay.
During the meeting, the Cuban delegation said they were sure of the reactivation of tourism on the Island after the impact of COVID-19.

According to the Cubaminrex site, the legal director of the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, Juan José Álvarez, and the Cuban ambassador to Uruguay, Zulan Popa, pointed out that the country maintains a growing dynamic of visitors, with the forecast of receiving in 2022 more than half of those who did in 2019.

In the presence of Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of the UNWTO, the directors recalled that the Cuban Government in March 2020 implemented a program of preventive measures to face the current pandemic, which included the protection of visitors.

In addition, they referred to the protection of human capital and the performance of constructive actions in the facilities to raise or maintain comfort standards.

Government insists on presenting Cuba as an ideal destination

Since, at the end of 2021, Juan Carlos García Granda, current Minister of Tourism, reported that no less than two and a half million tourists were expected this year, the Cuban authorities have continued to present Cuba as a tourist destination in various international events.

Last February, after having participated in the Madrid International Tourism Fair (FITUR), the Castro regime tried to sell Cuba as a destination in Turkey, during the 25th edition of the Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Fair EMITT 2022.

At the meeting, Cuban officials presented “their portfolio of products focused on that destination, as well as the strengths in sun and beach, nature and health destinations.”

While in April a Cuban delegation participated in the International Tourism Exchange (BIT) fair in Milan, with the aim of promoting Cuba as a tourist destination.

Other strategies of the regime to boost tourism

Cuba recently organized the International Tourism Fair FITCuba 2022. Held in Varadero, during the event a agreement to promote health tourism on the Island.

As another of the strategies of the regime in its attempt to reach two and a half million tourists during 2022, the Cuban authorities also carried out the event “For tourism for all generations”, during which actions were proposed to develop sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism.

For its part, the Empresa Marinas y Náuticas Marlin SA and Havanatur announced the schedule of nautical events for 2022, “as part of the recovery that the country is experiencing today in the leisure industry.”

All this in the midst of the economic crisis that the country is going through and that affects ordinary Cubans, as well as contrasts with the unstoppable construction of hotel facilities.
