They process pensions for workers and families affected by the Saratoga hotel accident

According to a note from the Cuban News Agency (Acn), the National Social Security Institute (INASS) is in the midst of a process of processing provisional and definitive pensions, in an expedited manner, for all affected workers and family members of the victims of the accident at the Saratoga hotel, without distinction of right to pension.

Virginia Marlén García Reyes, general director of INASS, declared to that agency that the process will have the exceptional nature of the law to grant extraordinary pensions, considering that not all relatives of the deceased earn the right to a pension on a regular basis.

“We intend to protect all affected families without distinction, due to the importance and painful repercussion of the incident,” he said.

He specified that at the moment a survey is being carried out to determine the calculation of the definitive pension based on the salary of each worker, and the affected nuclei will also be visited to interview the relatives.

If all the information is gathered quickly, it is expected that by June those affected and their families will receive the final pension, he stressed.

Meanwhile, the municipal branches of INASS will protect the nuclei immediately through the payment of a provisional pension, which consists of 100% of the salary of the affected worker.

The INASS management works together with the Gaviota group to reconstruct the work file of the injured workers through supporting documents and testimonial references from the entity, the family and the victim himself.

The note specifies that in case of destruction of the work file of the deceased, an exceptional procedure will be carried out to immediately protect the relatives.

If the deceased belonged to another institution, it must present the documentation required for the pension process at the INASS municipal branch where the work center is located.

If the victim is retired, the relatives will provide the names, surnames and identity card number (if they have one) so that the INASS municipal branch can start the process of the provisional and definitive pension.

The official said that retirees and social security pensioners temporarily housed in the Villa Panamericana will not have to go to the payment centers because they will be able to make the payment at the bank branch, post office or CADECA.

Social security beneficiaries who are in the homes of friends and relatives should go to the municipal branch of INASS to carry out the corresponding procedures in case of loss of the card.

The INASS director added that the Gaviota Group is taking measures aimed at guaranteeing the job relocation of those affected, as well as for family members seeking employment.
