Madrid Spain.- The Cuban authorities presented the Island as a tourist destination during the First Edition of the Outbound Tourism Summit event, held this week in New Delhi, the capital of India.
During the meeting, organized by the FICCI Chamber of Commerce in that city, the Cuban ambassador to India, Alejandro Simancas Marín, “highlighted the attractions of the country as a tourist destination,” according to information published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba (MINREX) on its official website.
The Cuban diplomat also highlighted “the opportunities for foreign investment in this sector” and explained “the different facilities and protections granted to investors in Cuba.”
The event was chaired by directors of FICCI and was attended by a hundred tourism agencies and tour operators.
Also this month they presented the country as a tourist destination during an event at the Cuban Embassy in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia.
The presentation included a promotional video showing the main tourist destinations in Cuba, including Varadero, Viñales, Santiago de Cuba and Jardines de la Reina.
As part of its strategy to boost the tourism sector, in recent months the Cuban regime has also presented the country as a destination in Canada, Uruguay, Italy and Turkey.
According to data recently published by the National Office of Statistics and Information of Cuba (ONEI), during the first half of this year 987,008 tourists arrived in the country, which means an increase of 557.3% compared to the same period last year. However, this figure is far from the arrival of 2.5 million foreign visitors predicted by the Cuban government for 2022.
