Madrid Spain.- The Cuban authorities presented the Island as a tourist destination during an event at the Cuban Embassy in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia.
As reported by the magazine ExcellenciesThe meeting was attended by the Cuban ambassador to that country, Liurka Rodríguez Barrios; the president of the Association of Travel Agents of Cambodia (CATA), Sivlin Chhay; Cambodian tourism industry leaders; and representatives of various travel agencies.
The presentation included a promotional video showing the main tourist destinations in Cuba, including Varadero, Viñales, Santiago de Cuba and Jardines de la Reina.
During a question and answer session, the Cambodian attendees raised some questions related to logistics, distance and the challenges of traveling from Cambodia to Cuba and vice versa, review Excellencies.
The president of CATA pointed out that the event would help promote the Island as a tourist destination among Cambodians and announced that a familiarization trip or FAM of Cuba for Cambodian travel agents is planned.
To travel to Cuba, Cambodians only need to request a Tourist Card online.
Cambodia and Cuba established diplomatic relations in 1960. Since then, the two countries have maintained relations in the areas of trade, politics, education, culture, sports and health.
As part of its strategy to boost the tourism sector, in recent months the Cuban regime has also presented the country as a destination in Canada, Uruguay, Italy and Turkey.
According to data recently published by the National Office of Statistics and Information of Cuba (ONEI), during the first half of 2022 they have arrived in the country 987,008 tourists, which means an increase of 557.3% compared to the same period last year. However, this figure is far from the arrival of 2.5 million foreign visitors predicted by the Cuban government for 2022.
