With 34 signatures, the motion of censure against the head of the Ministry of the Interior was officially presented in Congress, Dimitri Senmachedue to the escape of the former minister and presidential friend, Juan Silva, who has not been there for more than 20 days.
In the nine-page motion, “serious functional responsibility” is warned in the head of the Mininter “for the inaction and apathy to locate and capture the fugitives from justice: Arnulfo Bruno Pacheco Castillo, Fray Vásquez Castillo and Juan Francisco Silva Villegas ”.
“Mr. Dimitri Senmache assumed the position of Minister of the Interior on May 23, 2022, and so far in his administration, the only result is the escape of high-ranking figures implicated in corruption, deaths, disappearances, and social chaos; therefore, someone who does not have the capacity cannot be kept at the head of this important ministerial portfolio,” the document reads. The motion also makes reference to the death of illegal miners in Arequipa.
For the parliamentarians, all of this “are sufficient reasons” for Senmache to leave office “before, due to his incompetence and inaction, more tragedies continue to occur in the country that destabilize the Nation.”
The minister appeared before the plenary session of Congress on June 16 (previously he had also done so in commissions); however, he did not convince.
“He has not provided information that distorts the facts and grounds that support this motion; on the contrary, it has deepened the contradictions and has left more doubts that lead to confirming the aforementioned signs of lack of diligence in the exercise of their functions”, the text highlights.
The motion is signed by congressmen from Fuerza Popular, Popular Renewal, Avanza País and Alianza para el Progreso (APP).
