A book with journalistic articles on China published in the Argentine media was presented in the City of Buenos Aires and its authors highlighted that the work seeks to “give a broad view” of the Asian country and its ties with Argentina.

The compilation of these articles is contained in “The White and Celeste book of notes on China in journalistic media of Argentina”whose authors are Eva Blanco Lu, Nestor Restivo and Gustavo Ng.

The prologue of the book, which was presented in the city of Buenos Aires last Wednesday, was written by the Ambassador of Argentina to China, Sabino Vaca Narvajaand its publication takes place in the context of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Argentina and China.

remainder He said in statements to Télam that the work “is an initiative of Eva” and pointed out that “it seeks to give a broad view of China.”

In that sense, he maintained that the collected journalistic articles are about “various issues of China itself and the links with our country” and specified that “these articles were published in Clarín, Perfil, El Cronista, Página 12, Tiempo Argentino, portals like Infobae, the Dang Dai magazine, which I direct with Gustavo, and also other Chinese media”.

“We try to show that there is an effort by some journalists to reflect the issue of China, which is so important for the country because of the commercial and political relationship,” he said.

Restivo pointed out that the aim is “above all to think about the dissemination of journalistic articles from and about China within the framework of a very obvious information battle that exists, in the sense that the newspapers and portals and media directed by interests, especially Americans, every day they publish fake news or very clear attacks against China and against the relationship that our country may have with China”.

“In that sense, especially after the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, we noticed that there is a very large offensive by the media that generates prejudice, a very negative view of China. With this we intend to give a different opinion, with the objective set in improving the bilateral relationship,” Restivo stressed.

Along these lines, he clarified that “none of the three –beyond the fact that Eva was born in China– are dedicated to making pro-China propaganda or anything like that. We are convinced that the link with that Asian country is very important for Argentina” and maintained that “we believe that there is much to learn from China and we believe that the media, as Ambassador Sabino Vaca Narvaja says in the prologue, can be of great use for the development of our country.”

White Monfor his part, told this agency that the objective of the book “is to dedicate to the friendship between China and Argentina, which is celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations” and pointed out that he began working on it as a result of “how little it is known in Argentina from China and in China from Argentina”.

“The mutual understanding is not as deep as in other countries in which China has more history, such as Spain, Peru and the United States,” he stressed.

In that sense, he stated that “the Chinese began to arrive in Argentina in the ’70s, and although “the history” of that community in the country is “little, it is necessary that China be presented.”

“It is not only the first book in a series of notes on China, it is the first book to be published in the country in which a Chinese author participates,” he said.

Blanco Lu, an economist and political scientist, recounted that she received “education in Argentina, a combination of training in Beijing and Buenos Aires and acquired a look on both sides, looking at China as a traveler and looking at Argentina as a migrant.”

“Businessmen and officials have already understood the importance of China, they are looking for ways to achieve better results. Understanding is a good and necessary step, and one way to show respect is by getting to know each other,” he said.
