He Magistrate’s court of the First District of the National District issued this Wednesday periodic presentation for three months as a measure of coercion Alicia Anabel Santos Díazaccused of insult to the National Anthem by performing, together with another accused, a lesbian version, reported the National District Prosecutor’s Office.
Santos Diaz54 years old, was arrested yesterday Tuesday upon her arrival in the country at the International Airport of the Americas (Aila) in compliance with a arrest warrant which had been issued by the Investigative Court of the National District, after being identified as one of the organizers of a cultural activity in which the lyrics of the National Anthem would have been altered, maintaining its original music under the name “Birds, lesbians and queers, Let’s fly!”.
According to the record, the other defendant is Yoseli Castillo Fuerteswho remains under investigation.
The two, who reside in the United Statesare accused of having organized an event in the Cultural Center of Spainin the Colonial Zone, during which they invited the attendees to stand up and sing what they called the “National Anthem”, but with lesbian lyricswhich violates the law.
Outrage to the national symbol
The authorities maintained that the act constituted a insult still national symbolsince the Dominican Constitution establishes that the National Anthem is unique and invariable.
According to the accusation, they violated the articles 37 and 39 of the Law 210-19which regulates the use of national symbols and sanctions any act that implies disrespect or alteration.
