With B/. 501.00 balboas and a summons to the owner, the bakery, located in Condado Real in the town of Pacora, was sanctioned, where two cats were observed inside a showcase in which there was food.
According to the Ministry of Health, after receiving a complaint, personnel from the East Panama Health region proceeded to inspect this bakery where a report was filed and the owners of this establishment were sanctioned.
The regional director of Health in East Panama, Carlos Batista explained “that the evidence obtained from the inspection of this location was conclusive, for which the business was fined.”
“They (cats) can carry diseases such as toxoplasmosis, transmit parasites, have mites and can cause cross-contamination of food through their paws and fur,” he said.
During the inspection, the owners of the premises were forced to empty and clean the shelves where the breads and sweets are located.
Batista asked the population that, if they observe a similar situation in another establishment, or the same one, please file a complaint in the health centers or in the regional offices, to take the corresponding actions, in order to preserve the health of the people .
