This Wednesday they carry out religious and cultural acts in honor of Eliézer Otaiza, in the General del Sur Cemetery, in Caracas, one more year after his murder in 2014.
Family and friends were present at the event, as well as members of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (SUV), social movements and authorities of the city of Caracas.
During the activity, Isbemar Jiménez, Otaiza’s fellow fighter, highlighted the honor of having worked by his side, despite the demonization of the media.
“He has been demonized by the media, but what an honor to have worked by his side and to know what he was like, the one who shared the food, every time there was a march he accompanied each one of the workers, those who swept the streets, I was with them until the last minute,” he said.
He was a man who “never claimed to present himself before the process and his family as a perfect man,” Jiménez said.
“He was a man who fell and got up and taught us that the best was brought out from the crisis, he is a benchmark of loyalty. How much we need it ”, he highlighted.
When remembering it, Isbemar Jiménez stressed that “they took away an important leadership for Caracas.”
“Let us accompany President Nicolás Maduro in this task that has fallen to him,” Otaiza told us, “and here are his brothers from militancy and faith, creativity and solidarity,” he added.
Jiménez pointed out that this day “we honor Otaiza and all the martyrs of the revolution. All of them are our references and together with Chávez we carry it in our hearts, let us follow their examples”.
