This Tuesday, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Fanb) paid tribute at a funeral to 24 soldiers who were murdered by the United States government during its attack on Venezuela that ended with the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and the first lady, Cilia Flores, on January 3.

The president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, decreed this Tuesday seven days of national mourning for the men and women who gave their lives defending the Homeland.

The information was made known by Rodríguez during a visit to the José Félix Ribas Socialist Commune, in the community of 70, Santa Ana neighborhood, in the Antimano parish, in Caracas.

“We have officially decreed 7 days of National Mourning in honor of the martyrs who gave their lives with maximum sacrifice in defense of our sacred Homeland, during the criminal military attack perpetrated by the United States government on January 3, 2026,” said Rodríguez.

The imperial government of Donald Trump attacked the early morning of this January 3 at 1:58 am, in several parts of the country: Caracas, La Guaira, Aragua and Miranda and carried out the kidnapping of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro and the first lady, Cilia Flores.

Through a statement, the Bolivarian Government denounced a “very serious military aggression” by the United States in civil and military locations in the states of Miranda, Aragua, La Guaira and the country’s capital, Caracas, and ordered the “deployment of the command for the comprehensive defense of the nation” as President Nicolás Maduro ordered the implementation of the decree that declares the state “external commotion” to protect the national territory and move “immediately to armed struggle.”

In this regard, the Permanent Mission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations denounced to the Security Council the armed aggression perpetrated by the United States against Caracas and the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira.

The document, signed by Ambassador Samuel Moncada, states that the attacks were “brutal, unjustified and unilateral,” carried out with bombings and operations by special troops.

Venezuela accuses Washington of violating Article 2 of the UN Charter, which prohibits the use of force against the territorial integrity and political independence of States.
