Yixon José Méndez Artigas (36) presumably paid a high sum in dollars to assassinate former Cicpc official Carlos Alberto Salinas Barcos (36), according to judicial sources.
Méndez Artigas wanted to take revenge for an event that occurred in April 2019 where a three-year-old boy died during an attack perpetrated by Cicpc officials on the José Antonio Páez highway, between Acarigua and Ospino, Portuguesa.
On that occasion two children were traveling with their mother and a grandmother. For this fact, three Cicpc agents were imprisoned, among them Salinas Barcos.
And due to this fact, Yixon Méndez offered the high sum in dollars to Eliecer José Montilla Colmenares (33) to execute the former Cicpc.
Montilla, in turn, was in charge of hiring Luis Enrique Barrio Castellano (43), Luis Enrique Grimán Borges (36) (detained) and Nelson Gabriel Pérez González (34) (to be detained) as hit men.
The homicide against Salinas Barcos occurred on April 20 in the San Antonio neighborhood of Acarigua (Portuguesa). That day Luis Grimán, a friend of Salinas Barco, informed the assassins that he would be transferred from the Cicpc-Acarigua, where he was imprisoned, to a health center due to renal colic.
On the way to the health center, they went to Salinas Barco’s house, located in the San Antonio neighborhood, Acarigua. Her brother-in-law Carlos Demetrio Pineda Corobo (31) was there.
It is at that moment when two subjects with bulletproof vests arrived and began to shoot, resulting in the death of former official Salinas Barco and his brother-in-law Pineda Corobo.
On May 1, a Cicpc commission tried to arrest Eliecer Montilla, one of the perpetrators of the double homicide. The chase occurred on the José Antonio Páez highway, Araure section, Portuguesa, where an armed confrontation took place in which Eliezer Montilla was killed.
The director of the Cicpc, Douglas Rico, commented on this fact last Monday on his radio program and said that those involved in it are officials from a security body, who in turn present police files.
