On the afternoon of this Wednesday, November 16, a 19-year-old man, apprehended for his alleged involvement in the murder of a police officer in Panama Viejo, faced his guarantees hearing, where the Metropolitan Homicide and Femicide Section requested the legalization of the arrest, imputation of charges and corresponding precautionary measure.
During this hearing, the provisional detention of this man was ordered, for the aggravated intentional homicide of the Sergeant of the National Police, Rigoberto Valdés, which occurred on Monday, November 14, at Calle 8 Panamá Viejo.
The guarantee judge of the First Judicial Circuit of Panama, Oris Medina, decreed the personal precautionary measure of provisional detention due to procedural risks such as flight risk, danger of affecting evidence and danger to the community due to the serious nature of the case.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office also managed to charge this man with attempted homicide, illegal possession of a firearm, and crime against public servants.
