Court of the Criminal Judicial Circuit of the Metropolitan Area of Caracas ordered the newspaper The National repair the moral damage to the memory of the teacher Aristobulo Isturizafter the publication of an article on the website of that media outlet on May 4, 2021, signed by Rafael Rattia.
The information was provided by the first vice president of the Permanent Commission of Popular Power and Communication, deputy Tania Díaz (PSUV/Nacional), who indicated that they welcomed the decision of the court that ordered the removal of the article from the digital media, where it defamed public life, honor and expressions of racial discrimination are used against Istúriz.
According to a press release from the AN, Díaz indicated that days after the death of Istúriz, a man who performed multiple State functions and was a defender of the rights of the excluded and Afro-descendants; Rattia published the article “The millionaire teacher”, in which he denigrated his Afro-descendant condition, which is not conceivable in today’s Venezuelan society.
“Venezuela has lived through two constituent processes through an exercise of collective creation that execrates discrimination and promotes, in its articles, inclusion; For this reason, from this commission we request, as established by the CRBV, a public apology be made and the right of reply to the Venezuelan Afro-descendant movement be exercised, and be published under the same conditions”, the parliamentarian sentenced.
Likewise, it was proposed that the Special Commission that will Collect and Systematize the Historical, Political, Cultural and Management Heritage of the Revolutionary Leader Aristóbulo Istúriz, carry out an act of reparation to rescue the thought of the distinguished legislator, who led the fight for inclusion and recognition of the Afro-descendant population and culture.
For her part, deputy Casimira Monasterios (PSUV/Nacional) pointed out that after denouncing before the Public Ministry, and other State agencies; a campaign was unleashed against him, in an attempt at moral lynching, offensive to the memory of Istúriz, “so today we consign these documents to the legislative body in order to advance in the fight against racism and all kinds of discrimination ”, he concluded.
