Cleaning services, loading and unloading in warehouses and assistants in restaurants are some of the jobs that the state authorities of Sonora, Mexico have offered to migrants who have arrived in their territory. Among them are a group of 13 Cuban migrants who arrived in the state capital on Tuesday border with the United States. “This starts in January and they say they are going to pay an average of $ 200 a month,” he explains to 14ymedio Ernesto.

The five Cubans were transferred along with 214 other migrants from El Salvador, Haiti and Guatemala to Sonoyta, a community settled in the municipality of General Plutarco Elías Calles, northwest of Sonora, where they will remain in a shelter until their hiring is formalized.

In recent days a humanitarian visa to 27 Cubans, according to a source from the National Institute of Migration consulted by 14ymedio, which added that the Mexican government is looking for alternatives for migrants. In the municipality of Tapachula, Chiapas state, the INM accelerated in the last hours the delivery of transfer permits, which now have a QR code, to migrants of different nationalities who remained in the town. Once the document is delivered, they will have 30 days to travel to the destination where their appointment with the immigration institute will be scheduled.

The authorities intend that some 1,000 Latin American migrants and another 700 from Haiti can leave before the New Year’s festivities with their official documents and can leave the city paying their tickets with their own resources, reported the EFE agency.
