Santo Domingo. – Members of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and the Dominican Republic Navy seized 397 packages of presumably cocaine in the middle of a shootout during an operation registered between the coasts of Azua and Palmar de Ocoa this morning.
The information was offered by the DNCD spokesman, Carlos Devers, who specified that it is unknown if there are injured people, and that there were no arrests, because the traffickers managed to escape from the place.
Devers explained that the drug was divided into 13 bales inside a speedboat (Go Fast type), 25 feet long, with an outboard motor.

He indicated that an AR-15 rifle, several capsules, several GPS and some cell phones were seized in the area.
«They managed to enter a wooded area near Palmar de Ocoa. He indicated that there is still a search operation in the entire area.
The operation also had the support of State intelligence agencies and was coordinated by the Public Ministry.
So far this month, the authorities have seized more than 1,900 kilos of cocaine, that is, almost two tons of this drug.
