Artists, writers, institutions, colleagues and students of the branch of the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) in Holguín mourned the death this Saturday night of art critic and theorist, academic and cultural entertainer Ramón Legón Pino.

As Tatia Zuiñiga, former director of the city’s Provincial Center for Plastic Arts, recalled, in 1995, Legón Pino created the Babel visual arts project, which the following year became one of the fundamental events of the Romerías de Mayo. He was also president of the Plastic Arts Section of the Holguin AHS.
Legón Pino, a native of Holguín, also was a photographer actor for the film The winter campaignsby Rafael de Jesús Ramírez and translator in projects that he undertook together with his partner, the writer Mariela Varona, as is the case of the Russian series The Master and Margaretbased on the novel by Bulgakov.
“Always close intellectual with a serene and slow voice. The “Dog” is gone and with his departure the visual arts and the art world in general Holguín loses one of his most beloved children, ”says the CPAP note.
His death was caused by cancer. His remains were cremated.
