Collectives and non-governmental organizations marched from the Angel of Independence to the Hemicycle to Juárez in support of the sovereignty of Venezuela and to demand the release of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
Some protesters waved flags of the South American country and Palestine. They also carried banners that read: “Murderous Trump,” “Latin America united against imperialism,” “Stop terror” and “The problem in Venezuela is called imperialism”, among others.
Likewise, as they advanced along Paseo de la Reforma they shouted: “Venezuela we love you, that is why we defend you,” “Venezuela listen, the world is in your fight” and “Yankees get out of Latin America.”
Daniela González, from the People’s Human Rights Observatory, condemned “the very serious military aggression perpetrated by Donald Trump’s government against the Bolivarian Republic.” According to authorities, around 150 people participated.
For his part, Juan Luis Pérez, a member of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), thanked Mexicans for their “unconditional support” to the population of his country.
