San Francisco, USA-based company Epic Cleantec, which provides sustainable water treatment and recycling for buildingshas been associated with Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company to create a craft beer using recycled water from showers, sinks and laundry rooms as one of its main ingredients.
The drink, called Epic OneWater Brewwhich is described as a Kolsch-style beer, is made from the purified gray waterwhich is wastewater from sources such as showers and laundry facilities, collected from a 39-story San Francisco apartment complex using one of Epic Cleantec’s integrated recycling systems.

“What we wanted to do as a company was really show the untapped potential of water reuse“, said Aaron Tartakovsky, Co-Founder and CEO of Epic Cleantec. “We believe that there is no waste in wastewater,” he added.
Epic Cleantec took over 7,500 liters of highly filtered watercleaned and purified to Devil’s Canyon, where it is brewed and bottled in 7,500 cans of beer.
The product was created only with demonstrative purposes to reflect the possibilities of expanding recycling in the country, while current regulations on the sale of recycled drinking water are strict. However, the beer is distributed in samples at special events such as the United Nations Water Conference, held in New York in mid-March.
