Cicpc officials located the body of Mercedes Herrera (40), who was reported missing since last Monday, when she announced that she would go up to the Warairepano National Park.
The mayor of Chacao (Miranda), Gustavo Duque, confirmed the fact through a statement where he indicated that Mercedes’ body was found inside her residence: Quinta Madrigal, Avenida San Juan Bosco, Altamira.
“The authorities at the scene and the corresponding authorities will now investigate the case,” the mayor says in the statement.
Herrera was a social communicator and her disappearance was reported to the Cicpc Special Victims Department, located on Urdaneta Avenue, Caracas.
The last time Mercedes was heard from was last Monday, the day she was preparing to walk along the trails of the Warairarepano National Park, approaching it through the Sabas Nieves climb. That same Monday, Mercedes’ cell phone was located in a public transport unit that was traveling through La Castellana, in front of the Pan de Tata bakery, according to her relatives and friends.
