The body of Edgar Edgardo Lobo Maldonado, a 60-year-old lawyer, was located last Thursday in a wooded area of San Rafael, Libertador municipality, Mérida state. He showed signs of having been strangled, according to the first reports.
Lobo Maldonado resided in the Belén sector, Mérida and had been missing since last Wednesday when he left in his white, long-chassis Toyota Land Cruiser truck.
Relatives of the lawyer reported the incident to the National Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Command (Conas), whose agents began the investigations with the detention of three teenagers (15-17 years old) who were the last to see Lobo Maldonado alive. They allegedly confessed that they murdered the sexagenarian because he resisted the theft of his vehicle, which was located in sector 5 Águilas Blancas, in the capital of Merida.
