Through Executive Decree number 21 of March 27, 2023, the Panamanian government promulgated the decision to formally eliminate the mandatory use of the mask on public transport.
In the Decree they establish that taking into account the results achieved by the vaccination strategy adopted against COVID-19 and its high effectiveness and coverage in the national population, and the significant decrease in mortality and hospitalization indicators, the Government deems it prudent and It is necessary to relax some sanitary restriction measures.
They assured that they will maintain permanent surveillance and control of emerging situations, to protect the health of citizens.
After that, they ordered the mandatory use of the mask to be lifted in public passenger transport, collective and selective, and the use for people dedicated to the handling and sale of food is also suspended.
Despite the lifting of restrictions, the authorities recommended continuing with self-care, applying biosecurity measures for the prevention of COVID-19 when necessary, mainly in spaces at risk and use by the vulnerable population or those at greater risk of becoming seriously ill or dying. for this disease.
They stressed that the mandatory use of face masks is maintained in public and private health facilities, where care is provided to patients.
They add that it is ordered to lift the obligation to have the complete vaccination schedule with the three (3) doses against COVID-19, or the presentation of a COVID-19 test (antigen or PCR) with a negative result every seven days to all persons who requests or has been issued by the health authority the certificate of good health (white card) or the health training card (green card).
