The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MINCyT) and the Esteban Bullrich Foundation launched a research competition on different aspects What they do to the approach of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) such as family and home, employment situation, health coverage and psychological and material situation of the affective and family environmentreported the science portfolio.

The objectives of the contest It will be to direct research projects towards the specific problems of people diagnosed with ALS; carry out a sociological and environmental investigation, with a multidisciplinary perspective, of patients with this neurodegenerative disease and their families and affective and care environment.

It also aims to provide evidence for the development of legislation and public policy projects on rare diseases; identify obstacles and resources regarding accessibility to disability certification; health care coverage and social protection.

The inscription It will be between August 1 and 10, with a deadline for receiving projects until September 10, the ministry specified.

The topics covered in it will be: family and home; employment situation; health coverage; type of ALS that suffers if it is Bulbar or Spinal and total survey of the disease in the particularity of each patient, total input needs, need for communication support.

Science Minister Daniel Filmusafter signing the agreement with the Foundation for which the contest was launched, said: “For me it is an enormous emotion to be able to sign this agreement, because I know him and I love Esteban. For us it is an example of social commitment that teaches us to all”.

“This project emerged in record time and thanks to everyone’s work today we are signing it. With Esteban we share, from different perspectives, a passion for education, always thinking about how we could improve the lives of our children and our young people, to achieve mobility ascending society and adapt to profound social transformations,” said the head of the science portfolio.

For its part, Stephen Bullrich stated: “This is a huge step forward for ALS patients and a great example of what is achieved when the common good is prioritized. It is not the first time that we have reached an agreement of this type with the minister and it will not be the last Hopefully it will serve as an example at this difficult time for our country.”
