Relatives of Kevin, a 7-year-old boy with leukemia from Corral de Bustos, in the province of Córdoba, carry out a campaign together with the Grupo Solidario Pro-Ayuda to raise money for the treatment he needs “very urgently”, the cost of which is of almost 600 thousand euros.
“We are afraid because money is a lot and time is very little,” said Leonela Bossa, Kevin’s mother.to Telam.
In this framework, he based the urgency of the case: “Today we came to Rosario because Kevin had a blood count and the values are very low, so the doctor told us that it seems that the bone marrow is not working directly. So we are in an urgent situation and he asked us to please make a decision this week.”
Kevin was diagnosed with type B acute lymphoblastic leukemia on May 18, 2021.
After a series of treatments that culminated in relapses in the child, Doctor Emilio Rubulotta, from the Children’s Sanatorium in the city of Rosario, indicated CAR-T (Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell) therapy, which is currently not available in Argentina.
Given this, he requested the treatment in Barcelona by Susana Rives, head of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Unit of the Hematology Service and an expert in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, as well as a specialist in CAR-T cell immunotherapy at the Hospital Joan de Déu Barcelona.
However, The cost of the therapy is 579,000 euros, so his family, together with the Grupo Solidario Pro-Ayuda and with the support of the municipality, started a campaign to raise the money.
