The Ministry of Health (Minsa), through the Directorate of Health Promotion with the support of the Government of Canada, on Monday officially launched the “New Health Family” campaign, which aims to reinforce lifestyles health, well-being and care for the environment in the family environment.
During the activity, the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, highlighted that the “La Nueva Familia Salud” campaign represents the community as the recipient of institutional efforts and the central theme will be physical, mental and social health.
He maintained that the interactions of the characters should lead to the reflection of the receiver and to the decision making to adopt healthy lifestyles.
“We are giving life to this project together with the Office of the First Lady and with the support of international organizations to provide information to the population on how to maintain family health,” stressed Minister Sucre.
The head of Health added the concept of the “New Health Family” arises in the Directorate of Health Promotion, which already 27 years ago (1996) had developed a similar concept.
The First Lady of the Republic, Yazmín Colón de Cortizo, pointed out that a campaign has been resumed focused on parents, children, nephews, grandparents and the entire community where necessary issues are addressed so that each one has good health.
“This launch made it clear how important it is to avoid mosquito breeding sites to reduce the risk of dengue and the application of vaccines as an effective tool to prevent diseases,” said the First Lady.
Kim Ursu Ambassador of Canada in Panama reiterated the importance of the support given to the “New Health Family”, which seeks to prevent and improve good healthy lifestyles in the population at the regional level.
Some topics that will be developed in this campaign are: vaccination, hand washing, healthy eating, vector control, bullying, smoking control.
Aida Libia Moreno de Rivera, former Minister of Health who led this project at the beginning, also participated in the launch of the campaign.
