Santiago. The relatives of Soribel Apolinar, the woman beaten and stabbed to death and whose body was left naked near the La Barranquita sector, southwest of Santiago, demand that justice be done.
Apolinar, 29, a native of the Valle Verde community, Los Jiménez, in the municipal district of Hato del Yaque, has stab wounds to her legs, and blunt blows to her head and face, apparently caused by bottles. Cruz María Rodríguez, cousin of the victim, believes that she was also raped by her executioner, due to the way in which her body was found.
The lady used to move around the Hospedaje Yaque area, where she was known for asking for money for the consumption of narcotics, a habit that grew after the death during a motorcycle accident of her husband and father of three children aged 13, 11 and nine. years old, who are now orphans.
“We tried several times to help her with this drug habit, but she wouldn’t let herself be helped and look how it all ended. What we hope is that justice is done, for the cruel way in which she was murdered, ”says Rodríguez when speaking with elCaribe. For the fact there is a person arrested, with whom the lady supposedly had a sentimental relationship.
With the death of Soribel Apolinar, there have been 16 violent deaths of women in the province of Santiago so far this year. Of these events, five were classified as femicides. In another event, the Police are chasing the driver of a truck that on Sunday night rammed a woman who was in a pasola, who died on the spot as a result of severe head and thoracic-abdominal trauma.
The fatal victim is Ingrid Maribel Gómez Rodríguez, 36, who lived in the La Ceiba area of the municipality of Villa Los Almácigos, in Santiago Rodríguez. She died when she was traveling along the main highway, and was hit by a Daihatsu truck, Delta model, license plate S002404, red.
