two assumptions violent deaths are being investigated inside the Montero Productive Rehabilitation Center (Cerprom). The prison police have isolated five inmates who are accused of committing these acts.
According to the report provided to the media by Rubén Miranda, Cerpron’s security director, the first death was detected this Monday morning, after the list was taken from the inmates of the place and one of them was not found.
The 43-year-old man was found dead.. Miranda details that he had signs of having been sexually abused, however, a forensic result is expected to confirm or rule out this fact.
While, in the second case, the victim with the initials BOC, had been in preventive detention in the Montero prison since 2021. Her body was found at 10:40 and He had injuries to his face and abdomen.
Miranda said that in this last case, five inmates involved were identified, who They were isolated and will be prosecuted for the crime of homicide. In addition, he pointed out that their transfer to other prisons in the country is being processed, in coordination with the Penitentiary Regime, because they are considered dangerous and have extensive criminal records.
Cerpron is located on the highway to Okinawa and according to official data it houses 2,050 inmates. Miranda points out that this place has the capacity for a thousand inmates, but the overcrowding doubles this number.
