SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORIS.- Police authorities in the Northeast regional command began investigations into the death of a little boy a year old who drowned when he was in a comprehensive care center in this city.
The infant was identified as Maikel Esmil de Castro Álvarez, son of Carmen Álvarez Muñoz, and Manuel Castro Álvarez.
According to reports, the boy died in a container of water when he was in the Comprehensive Care Center for Early Childhood (CAIPI)located on Castillo Street, in the northern part of the town, where he received care.
The event that occurred mid-morning this Friday has filled the population with consternation, especially the child’s parents who continue to be surprised by the tragedy.
According to preliminary reports of the event, the child died of suffocation by immersion after supposedly falling into a bucket of water, while he was under care in the aforementioned Government children’s stay. Authorities have not provided details of the incident so far.
The body of the minor was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) of the San Francisco public hospital, where it remains for the corresponding purposes.
The center this afternoon issued a statement regretting the death of the child, where it also states that the incident is being investigated, “We guarantee that once the results are obtained, we will ensure that the corresponding responsibility and consequences are established,” says the document.
