A new case of intoxicated people is being investigated by the authorities of the state of Mérida, as was learned this Wednesday, which has set off alarms in the entity.
These are 30 intoxicated students at the Dr Gerónimo Maldonado high school in Bailadores, Rivas Dávila municipality, who were transferred to the emergency room of the I Aida de Montilva Hospital in that town.
The sole health authority of the state of Mérida, Gerardo Molina, confirmed that in the educational community of the Campo Elías municipality (Ejido) 90 people were affected by the toxic substance this Tuesday, which is being investigated by security authorities.
He stressed that the patients are out of danger thanks to the immediate action of the security and prevention bodies, such as Civil Protection and Firefighters of Mérida, who carried out the transfers to four health care centers in the Campo Elías municipality, “a single patient was transferred to the University Hospital of Mérida for presenting underlying illnesses.”
He pointed out that the care protocols for these emergency cases have been complied with.
