They investigate if there are Dominicans involved in Haitian gangs

Border, The Minister of the Interior and Police, Jesús Vásquez Martínez, revealed that the Police are deepening the investigations to verify if there is participation of Dominicans in the criminal gangs that operate in Haiti.

The official assured that the Dominican Government adopts all the measures of rigor to prevent the passage of criminals to the national territory.

“What you can be sure of is that the government is not going to allow members of these criminal gangs to pass from this side, whether they are Haitians, Dominicans or any other nationality,” he told the press during a visit to Dajabón, the purposes of knowing the works of the border wall.

Last night, the spokesman and director of Government Strategy and Communication, Homero Figueroa, guaranteed that none of the Haitian gangs operate in the national territory.

Haiti main threat to the DR

Vásquez Martínez warned that Haiti is the main threat to the Dominican Republic, so border surveillance is reinforced with modern equipment and intelligence units, which includes high military surveillance by the Ministry of Defense.

He indicated that the National Migration Council is working for the maximum control of everything that has to do with the presence of foreigners in the country, where Haitians have become a real threat.

“Every day the participation of Haitians in crimes and crimes that are registered in the country increases, we are following them up,” said the official.

He added that the Police investigate each of the cases in which Haitians participate to determine the level of involvement with organized crime or with one of the gangs that operate in Haiti.

Border patrol strengthened

He announced that President Abinader ordered the purchase of 300 more vans, in addition to motorcycles, for the National Police and a significant amount of these units will be sent to reinforce surveillance in the border area.

Likewise, he stressed that the president has already authorized the entry of three thousand new agents to the Police, so that in the coming days the selection process will begin for their entry to training in training centers.

The wall will present a before and after for RD

The Minister of the Interior and Police, Jesús Vásquez Martínez considered the wall that stands along the border with Haiti as a fundamental work for the country, because he understands that Dominicans are the ones who are called to take care of the homeland and protect the limits border. “This wall is going to represent a before and after for the Dominican Republic and we are the ones who are called to defend sovereignty, the homeland and this wall represents that symbology,” said the official.
