The authorities of the National Rehabilitation Institute (INR) ordered the initiation of an emergency investigation into an incident that occurred last weekend in Unit No. 4, located at Santiago Vazquez and known as ExComcar.
According to the information provided by Interior sources, the incident took place due to a fight between more than 40 inmates, which occurred last Sunday, November 20, in sector A1 of Module 4 of the ExComcar.
During the fight, some inmates even started burning mattresses. Faced with this situation, the Police repressed and several of the inmates ended up with injuries, although none seriously.
From the Ministry of the Interior they indicated that during the intervention the police agents seized 18 prison cuts, as well as a cell phone.
The injured, most of them with bruises and trauma, were transferred to the prison’s polyclinic.
While the Prosecutor’s Office has already received a complaint about the fact, the parliamentary commissioner of the penitentiary system, Juan Miguel Petit, indicated that they will gather information about what happened to present it to the Public Ministry unit.
Prosecutor Diego Pérez, head of the 5th Turn Flagrante Prosecutor’s Office, ordered an expertise for the injured inmates and even for some injured police officer. Likewise, it is proposed that he conduct an interview with those involved.
